I've changed my mind on Mike Arcuri (candidate for the House of Representatives in New York's 24 Congressional District). He was at the Halloween parade last night and said that he has changed his view on the Military Commissions Act in light of Cheney's enthusiasm for water-boarding. Yes, he should have been against the law from the beginning. But he wasn't. He has learned, though, and is responding to his continuency (there has been substantial pressure from left voices here in Geneva since his last visit). It's a shame that we are in a time where opposition to torture is a left position, but that's where we are. And, fortunately, that's now where he is. Given Arcuri's support for raising the minimum wage and opposition to the war in Iraq, I think he is now worth supporting.
