The other night Jon Stewart made references to World War 3. Things are looking bad. Israel claims that Iran aided Hezbollah attack an Israeli warship. Syria has pledged to help Lebanon. (In unrelated news, by son couldn't understand why lesbians would have their own airport and why anyone would attack it. Seriously. But, is it so surprising that an 11 year old wouldn't yet know about Lebanon but would about lesbians?) Israel has declared a 'state of emergency.' I hate to give into fear mongering, but with US troops in Iraq, the so-called war on terror, Bush's injunction to Syria not to get involved, and the continued attacks on Israel, will the US be able to avoid getting pulled into direct military action? And, even if not, isn't it likely that this will continue to escalate?
