Boring stuff about me report:
1. School has started back. On the one hand, I am fortunate enough to make a living reading and discussing great books. This is a privilege. On the other, I am frequently dismayed that students don't appreciate their privilege in having the opportunity to read and discuss great books. This is even more disheartening when they take out their cell phones right after I've said that cell phones are not permitted in class.
2. I didn't get The Communist Horizon finished. I hope to get it done in October. Or November.
3. I am just back from Seattle and the American Political Science Association annual meeting. It was good to see friends and make some new ones. The only new book I got was Bruno Bosteels', Badiou and Politics. I'm attaching the paper I gave for the roundtable. It repurposes some ideas I've introduced here into a broader critique of neoliberalism as specific strategy of class power. Download Neoliberalism and its contradictions.
4. I predict that this fall will look like the fall of 2008 with respect to markets (that is turbulence and massive decline in the stock and other major markets).
