It's strange--I consider inward turns, the retreats into home and self-help that marked the late 90s. Now it seems that such a retreat is less possible than ever--the flows of communicative capitalism have commodified every possible interiority, perhaps they operate today via interiorization. Creating alternatives, struggling for new spaces, might persist as front of resistance.
Perhaps, though, we should consider options introduced by those who brought us shock and awe--taking the battle elsewhere. That's something I could look forward to.
